RAPID Analysis Program for Investment Decisions
RAPID software displays stock and commodity charts
and
provides tools for analysis; trendlines, grid lines, averages, et
cetera. It does not work with real time data.
It does work with daily, weekly and monthly prices.
I have never used MSwindows since 1998. I just got a laptop with Vista on it and I tried it with this Rapid. I could not get it to work. 64bit versus 32bit issues, says the MSwindows error message.
It is time to switch to Linux, everyone. I recommend you burn a Linux CD from here: http://www.linuxmint.com and use Linux on your MSwindows computer and then run the Linux version of Rapid, instead of this one.
I might shut down the website for a while. The password is 0157try
The
C source code is not included with this version. Email me if you want it. It is best to get the Linux
version
if you want to add features to Rapid.
DOS installation (Who is running DOS? ...probably not you. So skip this part): Watch which subdirectory Netscape (or whatever Browser) uses when it prompts you to save the file. Copy c:\netscape\grnstone.exe a: (enter) to a floppy disk. You can then install RAPID to any DOS computer by typing (at the C\> prompt or D\> prompt),
RAPID will install itself in \rapid and it will put data in \rapid.dat. No other subdirectories are used. You can run RAPID by typing:
A
known BUG in DOS RAPID:
This
bug is annoying and not as serious as it looks and it is not fixed
because
I can't find the problem. It might be a Microsoft problem. When
you
go into the F5 utilities and do some data conversion and then come back
out to Rapid, the whole computer reboots or you sometimes get a memory
allocation error. It has something to do with running out of memory.
Solution: If you ever use F5, then exit completely by pressing F10 after you come out of F5 and then go back into Rapid fresh before continuing with anything else. This resets the memory of your computer and avoids the problem. I am going to have to write a MSwin version of at least the front menu to overcome this problem (Years later, I never did it. Maybe this is not a bug in WinXP?).
Printing
with RAPID:
This
version of RAPID does not print to ink-jet and laser printers
yet.
It does print to dot-matrix. The Linux version prints to ink-jet.
You can print to laser and ink-jet printers by using these utilities to grab a screen image and save it in GIF format. Then you can use that GIF image in e-mails and in Netscape, or photo or drawing software and you can do printing from there.
Here are the utilities to download. If you are using Microsoft's browser, you might have to rename them to the correct names before using them. Netscape doesn't have that Microsoft bug. So, renaming won't be necessary:
